GEARS OF WAR REVIEW

Gears of war is one of the best shooters you can buy on the xbox 360 and is amazing both graphically and with the extra pull factor to play through the game over and over again. It is my one of my favourite 360 games due to the fact i will play on it over and over and still be overwhelmed with what the game frows at me. Wether it is fighting in an epic gunfight with a swarm of oncoming locust or battling it out with a beserker it is a game packed with punch from the moment you are sprung from jail up until the very last bullet you put into General Raaams skull.
The game sets of with a greeting from Dom a soldier in the COG (coalition of governments) and is soon put to the test when Dom says "we can go right through the guards quarters or we can go left through prison blocks and straight into the fight", these are multiple choice parts of the game which make the gamer make decisions for themselves and make things more interactive, of course i went straight through the prison blocks and into the fight; Ahem.
Graphics
The graphics in this game are simply breathtaking with the incredbly detailed surrondings and the massive buildings that compliled with enemies stampeding through the town square creates some immense battles slinging you straight into the fight. The locust are so detailed from there thick broad armerdillo like skin to the blood that spurts out when you pepper them with lancer ammo, or blow them to pieces before your eyes with the nasher shotgun in a mess of blood and flying flesh, NICE ! The physics in the game are brilliant also as the light of day seems safer you fight with hope and as the shadows creep in and the krill come out things become more hectic with krill and other enemies on screen the shadows aren't safe and the lighting effects warn you of this.
Gameplay
Great gameplay is a key thing in this game, and laregly down to the cover system and gunplay. If you hit the A button at a wall you take cover hit it again and leap over it or can go round the side. Press RT and you can blindfire the hell out of you enemies but still be in cover or for a more accurate option you can press LT to aim and shoot your enemies at will, but remember this exposes you and if your not carefull or quick enough can lead you to dieing. these mechanics are a great asset to playing gears of war and it is a good idea to use these throughout the game as they can help you so much. The reload system also works a charm aswell because you reload by pressing RB and a display in the top right controlling ammo shows a bar, hit RB at the right time and youll get a quick reload, hit it at the perfect time and youll get extra bullet damage, miss everything and youll get a very long waiting time and a load groan from your character for waisting time in the heat of battle. Everything all together can lead to a unique playing experience in which the gamer can play in his own way wether it being run and gun or take cover and pick off your enemies, the fast pace of Gears Of War makes it a truly fun game to play.
Story
The humans on planet Sera are under attack on emergence day from the locust horde who are implimenting a mass holocaust of the human race killing all humans. The answer is the cog, and where Marcus Feanix comes in recently sprung from jail and ready to fight and so with his squad of four men journeys on to eliminate the enemy. This brings him into killing swarms of locust, dangerous beserkers and tense battles with corpsers well basically any enemy big enough up to the task eventually all leads up to the final climax with general raaam.
Muliplayer
with four brilliant game modes to chooses from online and all in teams of 8:
- Warzone = humans vs locust kill your enemy to win.
- assassination = leader on each team protect your leader and kill theres simple.
- execution = warzone but you revive by tapping A rapidly
- Annex = simply capture the areas on the map and watch your points go up
There is also split screen multiplayer
Two player co-op
And Lan options
All in all use every way possible to achieve the goals, remember to roadie run in between cover because youll be killed quickly and use the cover and blind fire. Get perfect reload with sniper it is devestating and if your finding gears of war online hard try the player matches first instead of ranked and keep practising.

such a good shooter can't be missed from you xbox 360 list and with its great gameplay and vast array of guns; a trademark being the lancer, the automatic rifle with a chainsaw bayonet or the gnasher shotgun you just have to solute this excellent game, now go and play it.
