welcome to ipod
Being a new user to ipod it may seem that my review is going to be one of how my eyes have ben opened to a great media player with so much going for it. I would also like to add that the new 6th gen 80gb is as slim as the 30gb 5TH gen cool facts eh, no i didn't think you cared. I am going to break down the review into the main sections of the ipod and make a coclusion at the end, now lets begin.
Music
This is what ipods were based on those 6th generations or so back! and my ipod being a slim 80 GB model of the classic it is a huge capacity with extra bits just for the eyes. for example on the main screen youll come across the top of the list saying music, to the right of this is the ipods great new interface cover flow which displays the album artwork of your favourite bands in all its glory with a sidescrolling feauture. a brilliant touch to the classic. click the music and it will take you to the normal features of the old ipods only a great new feature called were you can scroll through the artwork of your favourite albums and play your music through that. or if your like me you look for the artist and blast your ears of to your hearts content. Many people have said the earphones are not crisp enough or don't play very loud. I wouldn't worry about this too much as i have tried other headphones in my ipod and both were crisper quality that the ipod standards but i use the ipod standard ones anyway due to the fact there isn't actually and adequate difference.
movies
Although they have been on the ipods before i still it is perfectly at home on the ipod classic and i feel all that space on the ipod leads to some serious movie capacity. And i love being on the move and watching my favourite movies in something like VHS quality (suprisingly very crisp) it is a very good feature. The 2.5 inch screen is very good to watch them on as it sits percectly in your hand and although it isn't an amazing HD 5 inch display it is brilliant just for that comfortable movie experience something i have used countless times to save me from boredome in the car.
Interface
This realy is creative and although it doesn't add anything to the experience of owning an ipod it is actually good to look at and just adds a nice little touch. What this is exactly is just a pop-up on the right hand side of the menus which just show a quick look of the containing folder. One of which is he extras which shows a clock on the right hand side so you can quickly find the time without having to squint at the top right hand corner or something like that. All in all i like the interface and provides something fresh for the ipod classsic and also appears on the new ipod nano.
The other stuff
well all the other stuff just includes the easy to use stuff such as the about folder which just tells you your storage and videos on your classic ect. Also the new games are completely revamped and at times rather fun to use, ipod quiz is surprisingly interactive, klondike being a bit like solitare and vortex just like brick but a lot better with spinning platforms and better graphics. Everything else is all standard but still done in different ways eg stopwatch which shows a proper old school style flip out stopwatch.
Conclusion
It seems the main thing the ipod classic features different from the other ipods most is the new graphicaly impressice interface and slimmmer design in accordance to capacity i love how everything is colourful and i love the coverflow option as it adds a realy nice touch. For anyone looking for a new ipod this is definately one to look for in simplicity and raw capacity. It seems a very wholesome package for an mp3/4 player and i highly recommend it.
